Patterns and Generalizing
For this worksheet in math class, we had to look at the existing patterns on the dot diagrams. We need to do this in order to come with the conclusion of the final number and how it will look like. The total number of figures in the page is 35 with the same number of dots. We, as a team, need to use the patterns watched and demonstrated in the page to come up with the next number, 36, and how it will look like.
I chose this worksheet to demonstrate patterns and generalizing because as a class, we had to come up with a certain pattern we noticed, how the threes all form triangular shapes and things of that matter. A pattern we realized could be used for all numbers that could give you the definite shape, is the factor tree. We used this by getting 36, and finding the prime factorization of each number. This formula, helps you realize the shape and the number of dots and arrangement of the number.
This skill is essential for our future due to the fact that all throughout our lives, we have to keep looking for patterns and understanding what they may form in the end. This will especially help me in my future. This is because I want to study criminology and maybe later on major in the Forensic field. Looking at patterns and understanding their meaning is an essential in this field. We need to understand this because it will help us solve the crime, understand criminal pattern to see if they are similar to any other case in subject of a serial killer and looking for clues in the crime scene.
Grow in:
Growth mindset: For math during our first week of school, was working on our growth mindset project. In this project, we had one week to work and learn on anything we wanted to, we could learn how to draw or do a rubik's cube, it was all up to you. During this week, you had to record your process and practice as many time as possible for you to learn as much as you can.
During that week, I chose to learn as much as I could about the bones in the human body as well as their names. I came in not learning anything about the bones, just that we had a lot. Afterwards, I learned that we are born with over 270 bones in our body. When we reach the adulthood, the total amount of bones decrease to 206 bones. I drew diagrams on the skull, neck and hand on which I wrote the names of each bone. I did this because I am very interested in the Forensic field of criminology and is essential for me to learn this.
I need to grow more in this because after that week, I stopped trying to improve my knowledge on the matter. I really was looking forward to drawing the full skeleton but my schedule was full and I had no time to continue. Now that time has passed, I am starting to forget many of the things I learned. I wish to continue and grow more as to make a future out of this knowledge in my career. I plan on growing more by making time for studying what I already knew and just reviewing my diagrams. Then, I will continue reviewing more about the names. Later on, when I feel accomplishment with what I have done, I will start studying about each of the functions of the bones as well as the things connecting them.
