Well it wasnt this week, but the week before we went off to Thanksgiving break, we worked on gratitude letters in art class. We started that week by watching a video on how the expression of gratitude can help reduce stress and increase happiness. We then started on thinking about people who have a great impact in our life and we would like to thank them for something. We were to write them a letter, and decorate the front according to the persons likes. I decided to give a thank you letter to my mom and dad. For my dad, he is a fan of Batman so I decorated the front of the card with a view of Gotham City and the Bat Sign displayed on the sky. For my mom, she has always told me she loves flowers so I decorated the front of the card with 3D flowers and wrote in cursive Thank You. Inside I wrote them what things I was grateful they did for me. Our homework was to give them those letters we had worked so hard on. I am very happy we got to do that because my parents were very happy to be reading them.

Through out this week, I have been working alot on my college essays. Something I found really difficult would be staying on task and coming up with ideas on what to write my essays about. I realized that when you try to discuss your difficulties or strengths, you go blank. We where given time in class to work on these things and get critique by classmates or teachers. I was able to receive alot of help from my Humanities teacher Dr. C. I know it was very hard to keep reading the same essays several times and keep making corrections. Thanks to her, I was able to send of my college application complete and feel proud of it.
During this week's class, what idea(s) struck you as things you should put into practice?11/14/2016 During most of this week, in art class, we have been discussing the upcoming election. Also, we touched on several topics about the ups and downs of the candidates. We also had the opportunity to look at a sample ballot and perform research on the proposed props to better inform ourselves on what we would be voting on if we had the chance to vote. This is something that really struck me as something to do in every election because normally, people vote blindly without doing research and they are not aware of the full context in every proposal. After the election, we talked about taking voting seriously. A great number of people went to the ballots and voted for Harambe. This is a serious topic, and we really need to take into consideration what the causes and effects of this outcome will be.
Throughout this project, we were asked to create personal monologues. This were created to discuss moments in our lives that have shaped who we are or are helping us in the process. I consider the most difficult part of this project was opening up. Finding deep down who we are and what is able to make us who we are is difficult as it is. Imagine having to open up to people who you may not know or not know that well. Even though this was a challenge to me, I felt that is is very helpful to get us more united with our classmates. It was also very helpful in helping brainstorm for college applications.
After the process of creating personal monologues, we were put into small groups. These groups were created because the same theme was coming up in each of the monologues. I consider that having a common theme was very helpful in the creation of our final monologue. Some challenging areas throughout this process would have had to be practicing and dividing roles. Even though we needed more working in memorization, we were strong in the performance and being able to deliver a message to our public. I consider the aspect that really helped us create such an amazing monologue would have to be the Frankenstein Monologue we did for my humanities teacher. This activity was writing our favorite monologue sentence and then pass the paper to your group members. Several of the worksheets made no sense but one of them was able to spark our creativity towards the creation of the final product. Personally, I feel I contributed in the creation of the characters and dialogue. We all had a small part in the creation of the monologue, most of it was teamwork. Throughout this whole process, the connections between Humanities and Art became more and more clear to me. The incorporation of art in creating an Artist Symbol to match our personal monologues, we got meanings behind it to help us understand what made us the same. When we were able to find this, it helped our monologues flow better. Even the proces of writing is related to art.
Was there a moment of failure, success, indecision, doubt, humor, frustration, happiness or sadness?10/24/2016 During this week, we learned a lot about writing monologues. We discussed the critique process and brainstorming ideas. In the monologue writing process, we had some difficulties in the beginning with how the story was flowing. After discussing our ideas with Nicole for humanities class, we realized we had great points, we just needed the story to flow along those lines. We started with indecision towards what we were going to say with out story. Towards the end, after getting different critiques, we feel like we have done a very impactful story.
