During this project, we were taught how to create an interesting and interactive murder mystery story. During our time in humanities, we read many Sherlock Holmes stories identifying what made them eye catching and fun. We were also able to go through a real case study understanding all the different clues and red herrings that come up during a case. As a group, we came up with a variety of stories that incorporated a murder mystery. This was so that by Winter break, we could have our exhibition based on stories we created helping people undertstand the process we went through.
Story Reflection:
During the story writing development, we started by doing 3 sets of group writing in which were able to experiment the ideas and creativity of other people and share ideas. Our first group write was a complete disarray. We had a juncture of time to discuss the story we were requested to create and the final story was all mismatching and entirely out of point as you imagined it to be. But overall it was very fun.
Our second group write was amassed successful. In this one we had some time to discuss what we wanted the story to be about and what things we wanted to include in. But even though we had a small amount of time to accomplish this, we still had different ways to describe the story. But our most successful group write was number 3. This is because we had a longer time to discuss and each of us had created our own full story instead of partial stories as before. I personally like the 3rd group write because it had more consistency included and the whole point of the story is clear and shown.
For our final product, I consider our story to be a successful one. The Sherlock Holmes series and stories were of much help in representing or showing us a good mystery plot. Also, having gone through the case study. This case study was a representative of how we could include red herrings, clues, and possible suspects in an interesting way without explaining who the perpetrator was.
Script writing committee:
During this project, my team and I were in charge of creating a script. This script would be the one used by the actors while demonstrating what it was we had learned during the semester. In script writing we had to accomplish many things so that our team could keep on moving. First, we had to come up with a concrete story including beginning, middle and end. Then we did our character background, plot arc to identify what would be happening in the story. We then started with our 1st draft. Trying to come upwith different scenes and dialogues was difficult because you never know what would be interesting. We got our drafts critiqued and kept on moving from there. Every time we were done with a draft, we had to get it critiqued and edit everything so it would be of the groups liking.
